Telecommunications Technician – Cloud Support Specialist (Sept 2022)

ModernWorks Inc is a privately owned company providing telecom services and equipment to business clients in Canada, the U.S., Europe, and Australia. We are a boutique provider of SIP Trunk and Cloud PBX services.

We are currently seeking a full-time Telecommunications Technician – Cloud Support Specialist to join our team. This is a position requiring a direct hands-on approach, supporting existing voice and data customers and leading to design and installation of new VoIP Business Communications systems. You will be responsible for resolving customer needs and supporting these systems using remote access tools as well as directly in the field. The primary area of activity will be in our Kitchener office, but you may be required to travel into other areas. A valid driver’s license is required.

Skills and competencies:

  • Experience in the field of IT with knowledge of application installation, configuration, and integration
  • Solid working knowledge of data networks including routing, switching, layer 2/3, DNS, DHCP, TFTP, FTP, HTTPS, SMTP, SNTP, SNMP
  • Strong familiarity with Internet technologies and concepts
  • Familiarity with Linux an asset but not required
  • Familiarity with VoIP and telecommunications concepts a definite asset but not required, including PRI, T1, Analog lines, PBX, Key Systems, Gateways, SIP, GSM
  • Strong organizational, documentation and time management skills a necessity
  • Analytical approach to solving problems
  • Ability to work in a team environment
  • Strong written and oral communication in English a must
  • Self-learner
  • IT Certification such as Microsoft or CompTIA an asset
