Call Tips for 9-1-1
ModernWorks SIP Trunks are designed to allow you to reach emergency response services by dialling 9-1-1. ModernWorks 9-1-1 service operates differently than traditional 9-1-1 services and there may be circumstances when ModernWorks 9-1-1 may not be available or in some way limited in comparison to traditional 9-1-1 services.
- Tell the 9-1-1 operator the nature of the emergency right away and your current location.
- Do not hang-up, unless 9-1-1 operator asks you to.
- If you get disconnected, call the 9-1-1 operator back.
- Make sure your registered location information is up to date at all times with ModernWorks.
- The operator may assume that you are at the last registered address if you are not able to speak during a 9-1-1 call.
- During a power (unless battery back-up is provided) outage, VoIP services, including 9-1-1, will be unavailable. Please make alternative arrangements when dialling 9-1-1, ensuring you always have a mobile or other phone available.

- If you are located outside of the United States or Canada, 9-1-1 services are not available using ModernWorks SIP trunks.
- Always make sure staff located at your registered location (address) is aware of how ModernWorks VoIP SIP trunks work when calling 9-1-1 and the circumstances in which 9-1-1 may not be available or may be limited in comparison to traditional 9-1-1 services.
If you dial 9-1-1 by mistake, stay on the line and tell the 9-1-1 operator that there is no emergency and that the call was unintentional, otherwise emergency services will be dispatched to the address they have on file if you hang-up.
