The Challenge

Orion Cordage, a manufacturer of rope products with facilities in Ontario, Canada and Maine, USA, was operating with two separate telecom providers, functioning as two distinct companies from a telecommunications perspective. They were experiencing significant call quality issues that were affecting their operations and customer service.

ModernWorks Solution

In 2012, ModernWorks tested their Internet connection in Ontario and implemented our ER100 edge router, specifically designed to provide business-quality telephone calls across the Internet, regardless of the Internet Service Provider.

Utilizing our Hosted VoIP service, Orion Cordage began experiencing business quality telephone calls within their Ontario facility and with external parties, while enjoying free technical support from ModernWorks.

In 2016, Orion Cordage decided to bring their U.S. facility into the ModernWorks Hosted VoIP solution. We tested the Internet connection in Maine and implemented our ER150 edge router to resolve their call quality issues. Maine was seamlessly added to the same Hosted VoIP system that was running Ontario.

  • Orion Cordage is now running a single telecommunications system spanning 2 countries. This enables internal extension-to-extension dialing between sites.
