Telephones for SIPWorks

Any SIP compliant telephone will work with SIPWorks, our flagship IP PBX telephone system. Nevertheless, ModernWorks has chosen to align itself with industry leaders in order to maintain the quality and reliability expected by business users.

Aastra

ModernWorks is an authorized Aastra Telecom reseller. Aastra is a Canadian company that has been manufacturing Nortel telephones for some time. They are also a leader in the manufacture of SIP telephones. Their product line is business class at an affordable price. Aastra SIP telephones are the  recommended telephones for the SIPWorks telephone system.

The Aastra 6731i is an entry level SIP telephone which supports POE (powered through the data cable). It is a business quality telephone for the average office user and has a builtin data switch to connect a PC directly to the telephone.

Like all Aastra SIP telephones the 6731i has builtin prioritization for voice traffic when a PC is connected to it. This makes it an ideal choice for  a home office set up.

The 6757i CT is the top model in the Aastra line of SIP telephones. It comes with a large LCD display and all buttons are programmable. The CT in the model name designates a cordless telephone, which takes on the same extension number as the main telephone. This is useful for employees that may only be tied to their desk part-time, for example an office administrator who may need to leave their desk to send faxes or perform printing or other functions away from their desk. They simply take the CT phone with them to maintain business communications.

The 6757i and the 6755i telephones can take an attached sidecar to create a very functional receptionist set. The 6757i is shown here with the 560M expansion module. All buttons on the 560M are self-labeling and customizable.

The MBU 400 access point, along with the 420d cordless handset, offers a SIP DECT 6.0 office mobility solution. The MBU 400 can have up to 8 cordless handset extensions and the DECT standard provides interference free conversations. This solution is very affordable for the office with staff on the go.

For those who prefer a more traditional Nortel style of telephone Aastra has the 9133i, shown on the left, and the 9480i CT, shown on the right. The 9480i is also available without the CT cordless handset.

Polycom

ModernWorks is a Polycom Certified Reseller. The Polycom SoundStation series of SIP conference phones offers the highest voice quality for the board room. The IP 7000, shown here on the left, has a microphone pickup of 20 feet. It has the capability of adding expansion microphones to cover the entire board room. Automatic Gain Control ensures even voice volume.

The IP 6000, shown here with 2 expansion microphones has a pickup of 12 feet per microphone. It also features Automatic Gain Control and is an affordable option for smaller businesses.

Nortel

The Nortel i2000 series telephones use a proprietary protocol called Unistim. As of SIPWorks Release 3.1.2.1 the Unistim protocol is supported. This gives a migration path for those companies who have already invested in a proprietary Nortel VoIP telephone system, such as the BCM. A Nortel i2004 model is shown here.

Cisco

Cisco IP telephones work well with SIPWorks. The 7960 and 7940 are two very popular models, with the 7960G shown here. SCCP is the native Cisco protocol for their IP telephones but they can be flashed to use the SIP protocol. Companies who have already made the investment in Cisco IP telephones can maintain the telephones on a new SIPWorks system.
