ModernWorks has rolled out a Trunk Failover Service for all of our SIP trunk customers. If your telephone system cannot reach our SIP registration servers for any reason, your business lines can be forwarded to another number, or sent to a voice mailbox, or both. Typical situations where this service comes into play are when your Internet connection is down or your telephone system is restarting, for example.

ModernWorks is providing this service free of charge until January 1, 2011 for all customers who sign up now. For more details please contact your ModernWorks representative.

ModernWorks is now offering a full-featured SIP Trunk service. SIP trunks are simply telephone lines delivered across your Internet connection. These lines are very economical compared to traditional telephone lines. And of course, we provide these lines with the typical business level of quality that you have come to expect from ModernWorks. Our SIP Trunks are for business only. We do not provide residential service.

The Mennonite Central Committee Ontario has launched a massive relief effort for the current crisis in Haiti. ModernWorks has provided the Mennonite Central Committee with a Hosted SIPWorks telephone system for the Haiti Relief Information Line, which can be reached at 519 594-0143. Until recently we have been offering Hosted SIPWorks PBX for clients mainly in Canada. A few of those clients have offices in the U.S. and have successfully deployed SIPWorks telephone extensions to those offices. We are proud of the call quality that is achieved in such diverse environments, and it is this attention to business-level call quality that distinguishes ModernWorks from our competitors.

We are proud to announce our first truly multinational Hosted SIPWorks PBX client, Sapphire Web Design. With offices in both Canada and the UK, they are utilizing a single telephone system which allows continent to continent direct dialing of "internal" company extensions. ModernWorks has decided to take on the Polycom line of SIP telephones. Polycom have long been known for high quality conference phones for traditional telephone systems. Their new line of SIP-based conference phones are of the highest quality and work exceptionally well with the SIPWorks IP PBX.

We are pleased to announce the next major release of SIPWorks, our flagship IP PBX telephone system. With an updated web interface, some of the many new features include a feature code toggle of the Follow Me feature, password-protected feature code access to change company greetings, integrated analog paging, and G.729 support. We have also included support for Nortel Networks proprietary IP telephones. This enables a migration strategy for those with an investment in the Nortel IP PBX platform.

ModernWorks can now provide DSL Business and Residential Internet service. No telephone number is required. Static IP addresses are available for both Business and Residential services. Residential users can now run a web server with a static IP address. We can also provide Internet over Fibre or T1 for Business customers.

ModernWorks now provides hardware and software maintenance for the Octel 200/300 and VMX 100/200 product lines. Though these products are no longer offered by the manufacturer we have secured parts for hardware maintenance.

As of May 1, 2008 ModernWorks has become a Toshiba dealer. We provide sales and service for Toshiba Telephone Systems from Woodstock to Milton, and from Brantford to Fergus. Maintenance packages are available.

ModernWorks is now an Aastra Telecom reseller.  Aastra manufactures the highest quality SIP Telephones. They also manufacture telephones for Nortel Networks.
