Why ModernWorks?
ModernWorks was formed by a group of voice and data experts who previously made it possible for J&D Systems to be a successful pioneer in this community with voice over IP (VoIP) applications and installations. It’s what we have specialized in for the past several years. Collectively we have more than 50 years experience designing, deploying and supporting both voice and data solutions. We are located centrally in Kitchener, Ontario and extend our service to customers throughout South Central and South Western Ontario.
Toshiba Canada recognized our ability to support their traditional voice products as well as their more advanced VoIP applications and welcomed ModernWorks as a fully authorized dealer for voice products within our local area of operation. Due to the demise of J&D Systems (purchased by Bell Canada in 2006) and the lack of interest by Bell Canada with respect to selling and supporting this popular brand of product we accepted the challenge and are excited about revisiting old acquaintances and meeting new friends.
ModernWorks is built on the assumption that the management of VoIP technology for business is like legal advice, accounting, graphic arts, and other bodies of knowledge, in that it is not inherently a do-it-yourself prospect. Smart business people who aren't computer hobbyists need to find quality vendors of reliable hardware, software, service, and support. They need to use these quality vendors as they use their other professional service suppliers, as trusted allies. ModernWorks will be such a vendor. For advanced applications that run on or use resources on the local area network (LAN) ModernWorks has developed new tools specifically designed for pre-testing existing networks. This is important to ensure that all aspects of the quality of service (QoS) strategy are working correctly ensuring a successful deployment the first time every time. As well we have developed monitoring tools so that we can continue to ensure that all aspects of the network are working correctly, thus ensuring the reliability expected by business for voice applications.

ModernWorks is a privately held company co-owned by Ron Hill and Dennis Martin.
Ron Hill has 15 years experience in the voice and data service industry. He has successfully completed many industry-standard certifications from Novell, Nortel, etc. While working in the industry for the past 15 years Ron has personally created numerous solutions involving multiple technologies for all types of clients ranging from School Boards and Government Agencies to the Medical and University communities.
Dennis Martin is a pioneer and innovator with over 29 years experience in the voice communications, computer, e-business and telecommunications industry. Dennis has a proven track record of success in managing and directing operations for the installation, deployment and support of many related technologies and solutions.
